Heat get 27 from Wade, hold off Clippers 108-97 (AP)
10 Mar 2010 at 8:01pm
By the time Dwyane Wade left the court Wednesday night, by the time Erik Spoelstra finished his postgame remarks, the Miami Heat turned their collective thoughts in two directions. Away from the Clippers. And on to the Bulls. Wade had 27 points and eight assists, Jermaine O'Neal finished with 19 points and nine rebounds, and the Heat extended their longest home winning streak of the season to...
Heat: Still no word from Alston (AP)
10 Mar 2010 at 4:51pm
Rafer Alston's absence from the Miami Heat took another turn Wednesday, with the team denying that the embattled point guard was told shortly before his sudden departure he would no longer get playing time. Alston was quoted by ESPN.com saying that he chose to leave because of a personal issue involving a family member, plus said Heat coach Erik Spoelstra told him that he "wouldn't be...

Rafer Alston's comeback with the Heat apparently has come to an awkward end.
The veteran point guard has been suspended indefinitely without pay by the Heat for failing to make himself available to the team since last Thursday's demotion from the starting lineup.
Alston first failed to report for practice last Friday, which the team did not initially disclose, and then did not appear at Saturday's victory over the Hawks.
Alston, who was signed Jan. 7 to add punch to a shaky rotation at point guard, was benched for the final three quarters of the March 2 victory over the Warriors and then replaced in the starting lineup by Carlos Arroyo last Thursday against the Lakers, not seeing any action in that game.
Alston, who had thrived during his first stint with...
Bobcats rally, beat Heat 83-78 to take tiebreaker (AP)
9 Mar 2010 at 8:08pm
The Charlotte Bobcats keep finding new ways to beat the Miami Heat, and that just might end up deciding which team goes to the playoffs. That prospect left Dwyane Wade fuming after the Heat's second-half offensive meltdown. Thanks to D.J. Augustin's big fourth quarter, Raymond Felton's steady play and Wade's shooting woes, the Bobcats earned their third straight win over Miami, 83-78...
Alston stays away from Heat; team moving forward (AP)
9 Mar 2010 at 2:50pm
Suspended Miami Heat point guard Rafer Alston still hasn't contacted the team. Coach Erik Spoelstra said before Tuesday's game against Charlotte that Alston's lone communication since Friday was through text messaging. Spoelstra wouldn't say if Alston will be released, but said they're "moving forward with the guys we have in this locker room." Alston was benched for...

Wade, Beasley lead Heat past Hawks 100-94 (AP)
6 Mar 2010 at 9:28pm
Dwyane Wade slipped behind the Atlanta defense to catch long passes on back-to-back breakaways, then climbed several rows into the stands and clapped as Miami Heat fans roared. So it would be wrong to say Wade did everything Saturday night but lead cheers. Wade scored 38 points, added 10 assists and was part of a late defensive stand that helped the short-handed Heat rally past the Hawks 100-94.
Heat's O'Neal sidelined by knee injury (AP)
6 Mar 2010 at 6:24pm
Miami Heat center Jermaine O'Neal has been sidelined with an injury to his left knee, and it's uncertain how long he'll be out. O'Neal was hurt in the second quarter of Saturday's game against Atlanta, although it wasn't clear how the injury happened. The Heat announced the injury late in the quarter, and O'Neal did not return.
Wade gets 27, Heat hold off Lakers in OT, 114-111 (AP)
4 Mar 2010 at 9:12pm
Jermaine O'Neal called it, telling teammates in overtime that the next time someone drove the lane he would be there to take the charge. That someone was Kobe Bryant. And O'Neal delivered on his vow. O'Neal stood his ground with 18.7 seconds left in the extra session and Bryant was whistled for an offensive foul.

Wade, Heat escape to beat Warriors 110-106 (AP)
2 Mar 2010 at 8:03pm
Afterward, Dwyane Wade could only exhale. "There's no easy wins in the NBA," Wade said. These days, that especially rings true for the Miami Heat. Wade finished with 35 points and 12 assists, Quentin Richardson hit two huge 3-pointers in the final minutes, and the Heat snapped a four-game slide by digging deep to beat the undermanned yet spirited Golden State Warriors 110-106 on...
Lewis leads Magic past Heat (AP)
28 Feb 2010 at 8:25pm
The Orlando Magic found a way to win without much help from All-Star center Dwight Howard. Rashard Lewis scored 22 points and the Magic pulled together to beat the slumping Miami Heat 96-80 on Sunday night. Vince Carter scored 17 points, and J.J. Redick 15 for the Magic, but the key to the game was that every player in the lineup had at least one field goal and two rebounds.
